The top is Adirondack red spruce, the most prized wood for steel string acoutsic guitar tops, the same wood used on Martins of the early '30's and very rarely used today. The back and sides are rosewood, showing an uncommonly straight grain, which is good.

The Collings C10 Deluxe is based on the Gibson L00 small bodied guitars from the 1930's. Except, it's a deluxe version. Like the L00, you get a fabulous spruce top finished in sunburst with a 'flame' pickguard. And like the L00, you get a mahogany neck.
