Fender Stealth Esquire John English Masterbuilt 2006 Blonde

At first glance, the only way you could tell this isn't a late 1954 Esquire is the white knob on the selector switch. And even that could have been added after the original black one fell off in some honky tonk in Austin, back in '57. And the guitar certainly looks as though it has been used, though not abused, for over 50 years. However, take a closer look and some other details start to reveal themselves. For a start the serial number starts with the letters JE and the neck plate is engraved with the word: English. So now we know. This baby was hand made in the Fender Custom Shop by master Fender builder, John English. He has named it a Fender Stealth Esquire and like the fighting machine is was named after, it packs more than a few suprises.

Under that innocuous looking black guard you'll find two extra 'stealth' pickups that will let you pull some sounds out of the box never before possible from a humble Esquire. The extra tones are accessible with the aforementioned selector switch with the white knob. It is a five-way switch and what you can do with it is hard to describe, unless you come in and plug it it.

As a player, we can only say that this guitar feels as good if not better than any'50's Tele we've ever had in our all too inadequate hands. John English is one of the greatest builders of modern Fenders and as he has retired, just like the ones from the '50's, they ain't making any more.
