Fender Telecaster April 1959 Maple neck. Returned to the Fender factory in the mid 1960's for a Candy Apple Red finish.

Fender officially released Candy Apple Red in September 1963 in their "Fender Facts" magazine. I guess the owner of this 1950's Tele liked what he saw with the new finish from Fender!

The guitar has all the factory job number markings + the Fender "paint stick" that is featured in neck pocket pic. Fender used this method from mid 1963. Pots date out to 48th week 1958, neck date 4/59.

When the Tele returned to the Factory it was also fitted with a mid sixties pickguard, bridge & double line Kluson machine heads.

We a thinking that it may have been an Esquire originally, as the "Telecaster" has been added at a later date, so too the mid sixties front pickup.
