When this was last in, this was Doug Weaver's favourite Tele, and no wonder. It is possibly the best modern Tele we've ever had the pleasure of offering. It was made in December 2004 and is thus second-hand but in such good condition, you'd hardly know.

It is called the 'Tuff Dog' model and as it was made to Merle Haggard's specifications, you won't be surprised to know that it really delivers that true country sound. The Tuff Dog is constructed differently to all other Teles. The neck is beautifully flamed maple and is set into a solid block of equally flamed maple which runs the length of the body.

The Tele body is completed with wings on each side of the central block, constructed somewhat like a thinline Tele but with a solid quilted maple cap. The pickguard is not quite as big as the standard Tele pickguard, as the top edge is rounded off toward the bridge, allowing more of the fabulous quilted maple top to be seen.

The controls are a little different too. There is a four way switch, allowing you to get the standard Tele tones plus a humbucking tone. And all the hardware is gold-plated. Really, this guitar has everything. Looks, tone, feel and rarity. With this guitar the Fender Custom Shop have gone far above and beyond the call of duty to create a modern classic.
