Fender Telecaster Olympic White 1972
What is the old saying? Blonde's Rule! Well, when it comes to Telecasters for the masses, that colour sure did... Throughout the fifties, sixties and seventies, it was the standard colour. Now days, as time has gone by, the less popular colours back then are the most popular now. They are hard to find.. This guitar is one of those .... A rare custom Colour!
People who know about these old Fenders know how rare it is to find an Olympic White 1972 Fender Telecaster. For the new to guitar collecting, something worth noting is that unlike the Telecaster's standard colour being Blonde, the Fender Stratocaster's standard colour was Sunburst.... Now to confuse that, Sunburst on a Telecaster (except for the Telecaster Custom) is regarded as a custom colour... While the Fender Stratocaster's with Blonde finish is actually regarded as a custom colour... So for Strats, Sunburst was the standard, Blonde the custom Colour. Phew! Did you follow that? I better read that again!
I love the yellowing on this April 1972 Telecaster. Like our 1971 Tele, it is very light in weight, the pickguard is very cool with its thirty-six years of aging! All round it's great fun! Oh, original case as well.
Steve Jackson.
