Gibson Advance Jumbo 2001 Brazilian / Adirondack
In 1936, Gibson set out to create a big bodied acoustic guitar that would take Martin's D 28 Herringbone head on. They gave it a 25 1/2" scale length, the same as a Martin, and longer than any other Gibson flat top, they gave it Brazilian rosewood back and sides, like a Martin although, they built it like a Gibson.

How successful were they? ..... The Advanced Jumbo quickly became known as the "bone crusher" because of its power and volume. The Advanced Jumbo also featured a bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, with diamond and arrowheads inlay. The originals are known as the finest pre-war flat top Gibson ever made.

Dean Thomas

This is a recreation of that guitar in the smallest of detail. The back and sides are brilliant Brazilian Rosewood, we all know how rare Brazilian is! Even rarer on a Gibson. The guitar also features an Adirondack Spruce top with a very warm thirties Style Sunburst.

Gibson USA brought this guitar to Australia for a Gibson Guitar exhibition in 2001. At these shows the idea is to get forward orders of product from stores, show everyone in the industry in Australia how good their guitars are. Of course Gibson displayed the best guitars for the occasion. This guitar on that day was the best of the best!
