  Gibson ES-5 1951 Sunburst

In 1949 Gibson introduced the Gibson ES-5, a single cutaway archtop guitar with three P-90 pickups, a maple body and rosewood fingerboard.

This was the first production model to have three pickups. Guitar players loved the variation of tone it gave, being able to use any of the three pickups, or a combination of all three.

Gibson ended production of this wonderful guitar in 1955 and renamed it the Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster. All of which makes this 1951 model from the mid production period, and at 57 years old it has survived in truly superb condition.

The guitar is still in it's original brown case with green interior, and with the exception of a later ES tailpiece appears all original. Superb tone, superb to play, this is not only a highly desirable guitar to collectors, but a true players instrument as well. This is a favorite among JRG staff!
