The L4CE, a full bodied cutaway guitar with a Charlie Christian pickup, was like an ES 175 but with a solid carved spruce top. Gibson made only 20 of these guitars in 1958. They also produced a few (no number is available) L4CES models, some with Alnico pickups and some with Humbucking pickups at around the same time and these stayed in production for only a few years, probably only as custom orders.

This new L4CES is also rare and features two humbucking pickups. It has a great feeling, late '50's style neck. And a special L5 style tailpiece. It is a great looking guitar with a suprisingly versatile tonal range when plugged in. And, with the solid top, it has a brilliant accoustic sound too.

Very hard to find in Blonde!
