Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery Red Wine
Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery Red Wine
Wes Montgomery was one of the greatest jazz guitarists who ever lived. He is up there with Charlie Christian, Django Reinhart and Eddie Lang.

A unique player who influenced everyone with his unmistakable sound. Part of that sound came from the Gibson guitars he favoured.

Wes ordered his guitars direct from Gibson. He loved the L5 CES model but didn't need the rear pickup, so he got his with just the front pickup.

This left a little more wood on the top and thus the guitar sounded different electrically and better acoustically. Some say this is the perfect electric L5.

Some ten or so years ago Gibson reissued Wes Montgomery's special order as a regular model. It has proved to be an enduring favourite and we are thrilled to be able to offer this stunning example in the colour known as Red Wine.

Interestingly, Red Wine was used in the '70's on L5's to cover the somewhyat plain wood Gibson used in this era. The colour proved popular and is still used to this day. In this case, it covers some outstanding flamed maple and you can clearly see the beautiful grain through the colour. Simply stunning.

This is one of the best Jazz guitars we have ever offered at JRG. It looks and sounds wonderful and has one of the best feeling necks you're likely to encounter.
