Back in 1960 when the Les Paul (as we know it) became a double cutaway, slim bodied tremolo machine (Sound Familiar?). The five year extended contract with Les Paul was halfway through. By 1963 Les Paul's name had disappeared. The Guitar was renamed the SG Standard.

Just as Fender's Telecaster played second fiddle to the Stratocaster, so to does the Gibson SG to the Les Paul. But this is hard to understand when you look at one as beautiful as this, and then you play it...wow!
