Heritage Kenny Burrell 2003 Blonde
The guitar most asscoiated with Kenny Burrell, before this one, was the Gibson Super 400 CES. And this guitar closely follows that deluxe model and therefore is totally stunning. (We literally fell over when we opened the case.)
It has the big headstock, like the Super 4 but with Kenny Burrell's name inlaid along its length in MOP. The ebony fingerboard has the split block MOP inlays of the Super 4. The beautiful flamed maple body and Sitka spruce top are the full 18" wide.
And the colour is blonde, which always commands a premium price from guitar players. The neck too is highly figured maple, made in three pieces, with mahogany strips between them for strength.
The tuners are Grover Imperials and the tailpiece has individual fingers for each string, which can be adjusted to loosen or tighten the feel of each string, to suit the players preference or needs.
The pickups are the special HRW Humbuckers, which Heritage only use on their top models. And all hardward is gold plated.
Everything about this guitar is larger than life, except the price. For a guitar like this, it's an amount you can very easily live with. And this is a guitar good enough to live with forever.
Kenny Burrell was Stevie Ray Vaughan's favourite jazz player, as he always kept a bluesy influence in his playing.
You can hear him on many CD's, we'd recomment A Night at the Vanguard for starters. If Kenny Burrell went from Gibson to Heritage for this guitar, you better believe it's good.
